Cookies And Cream Protein Shake Recipe

Protein shakes tend to be an important part of your diet if you’re looking to hit a high daily intake target – they’re an easy and reasonably affordable way to get more protein in your diet, but ultimately they can get pretty boring after a while.

Luckily for us there are plenty of recipes out there for shakes which are substantially more appealing than plain old whey and water. One of my favourites at the moment is the cookies and cream protein shake, which is a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth while still sticking to a clean eating plan!

While they’re a little sweet (for me) to have in the morning, they work well as a healthy alternative to dessert and give you the feeling of having eating something sugary and bad for you when you’ll really just helping hit your macros.

There are a couple of ways to make the shake, one being far more straightforward than the other but both absolutely delicious.

The Lazy Way

While whey protein has a pretty bad reputation for tasting awful, some flavoured whey is actually pretty good and far better than it was in the recent past. One of those is the cookies and cream flavoured impact whey from MyProtein, which blends well with milk to form a thick, creamy and delicious shake which is really easy to prepare.

Throw the milk and whey into a shaker bottle or a blender and mix it all together. The ultimate lazy man’s treat.

Cookies and Cream Protein Shake

There’s a little more work in this one, but it’s a real treat and it’s worth the effort if you don’t have the pre-flavoured whey.

  • 1 tbsp non-fat Greek yogurt, plain
  • 1 scoop vanilla whey protein
  • 1 cup ice
  • 300ml almond milk
  • 2 Oreo cookies

Add all the ingredients together in a blender and blast them for about 30 seconds. You should end up with a thick, creamy shake that’s more like a milkshake than a protein shake. Adding Oreos is just a suggestion based on what I’ve tried and liked the best, but it’ll work with most cookies if they’re not too chewy.
